Christianity And Islam

So this is Christianity, they say,
Made up of the intolerant, the sad,
The wildcards and all those who like to pray
To a God of violence who seems quite mad

With endless destruction, unending pain,
Who can only stomach being called One name -
No, I've met true Christians, they seem quite sane,
But few and far between, they share the same

Vision as the true Muslim believer,
Spiritual growth, the permanent quest for change,
A little fervour (but not like a fever),
They live in a world that sees them as strange :

Ah! My friends, praise God and live another day,
We've got to live the middle way!

Decent people are more interested in their own spiritual growth than in being nutty.

My Neighbours For twenty years they lived in this country,
Working hard, praying to God, living lives
Of tolerance in this Land of the Free
And now that there's a war the hidden knives

Are out, twisting and turning pettily
From racist xenophobia in fools
Whose minds, it seems to me, are completely
Swayed by whatever wind blows, whose only rules

Are to side with the Greater, the Easier,
The most Inflamnatory, the simplest
Course to violence, Whose only real desire
Is to fight, and destroy whatever's best

In anything, everything, in my land :
MY neighbours, MY relatives, Understand ?
